Hello,
the way that sounds reasonable to me to get
your film sound striped is to send it off to
get sound/stripe after expossing and splicing
with cement,at $7.50 per 50 ft both main/balence sides.there are two adresses
that i found on this web-site that do this in the u.s.a.on the west coast.the other being only the main track but alot cheaper.
you also need an assortment of other antques
which still work.the editing bench beingsimilar to 16mm.i think? ken

You should get a copy of this book: The FILMMAKER'S HANDBOOK A Comprehensive Guide for the Digital Age by Steven Ascher & Edward Pincus published by Plume. It covers all the old & new ways of editing and shooting "film" and video. Great book!
While you're at it get a copy of: Essays In Film Theory by Sergei Eisenstein.
